Throw live shrimp for Cocodrie trout

Cocodrie fishing remains red hot says Capt. Tommy Pellegrin of Custom Charters. Earlier in the week before winds picked up, Pellegrin caught plenty of trout on live shrimp.

“We had experienced guys who insisted on fishing with topwater lures and they caught six compared to 36 caught with live shrimp,” he said.

Look for clean water and bait along Last Island, West and East Timbalier Islands — the key to finding the trout.

“They will be feeding on shrimp for about two more weeks and then start feeding on croaker as the brown shrimp move offshore,” predicted Pellegrin.
