Reckless driving and drug possession leads to arrest in Jefferson Parish

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents arrested a Gretna man for alleged open arrest warrants, drug violations and motor vehicle violations on April 20 in Jefferson Parish.

Agents arrested Ashton Strohmeyer, 33, for reckless operation of a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine and having open arrest warrants through the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Agents were patrolling the public area of the Bonnabel Park and Boat Launch when they observed a Ford truck traveling in a reckless manner without regard to the numerous families and small children in the area.

Agents stopped the vehicle, found Strohmeyer in possession of cocaine, and learned he had open warrants through the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Agents arrested Strohmeyer and booked him into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.

Reckless operation of a motor vehicle brings up to a $200 fine and 90 days in jail. Possession of cocaine carries up to a $500 fine and two years in jail.

Agents involved in this case are Senior Agent Jimmie Daniel and Sgt. William Arteaga.
