Camps, marina left relatively unscathed by storm surge, winds.
Pointe aux Chenes received little damage as Hurricane Isaac crept past the little fishing village, one of LouisianaSportsman.com’s users has reported.
Camps and Pointe aux Chenes Marina were accessible by roads, which were covered only in a few places by inches of water yesterday (Aug. 31), Scott Walker said.
“The highways are all open,” said Walker, who goes by nightfisher on the forum. “There were a couple of spots that had water, but they were passable.
“There’s no real damage.”
Walker shot a video (attached) that showed waters were still high, but he said it was apparent that it was only a matter of time before things returned to normal.
“The water’s steady falling out,” he explained. “They’ve got a couple of pumps down there by the levees that they’re running around the clock.”
He surmised that the marina should be up and running as soon as the water receded; the Entergy Web site indicates that area has power.
“The marina didn’t take on water,” Walker said. “It looks like the max amount of water (in the storm surge) was maybe 3 feet. I couldn’t see the piers, but it looked like everything was intact and good.”
