Website’s claim of 185-year-old gator found with Confederate bullets untrue
You might have seen a recent story circulating online about a 185-year-old MIssissippi gator found with Confederate bullets in its body.
I suppose that’s slightly more believable than a 300-pound alligator snapping turtle riddled with Native American arrowheads, but the moral of the story is: Don’t believe everything you read online.
The tall tale is a complete fabrication, although the picture accompanying it was a then-state record Mississippi gator taken in 2012.
