More than 50 agents, trucks and boats sent to assist with search and rescue efforts
Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries headed to Florida on Sunday to assist with security and search and rescue efforts there in the wake of Hurricane Irma.
The department sent 55 agents, 53 trucks, 50 boats and a mobile command center to Pensacola yesterday, where the agents were sworn in by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s law enforcement division, according to a news release.
The Louisiana agents were staging in Pensacola until weather conditions allowed them to move into the southern portions of the state. The Louisiana contingent, which is working alongside agents from the Mississippi Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks law enforcement division, will remain in Florida until they are no longer needed.
