A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agent cited a Houma man for alleged illegal wildlife transportation violations in Rapides Parish on Sept. 2.
Agents cited Cullen C. Cenac, 52, for illegally importing a live cervid and violating interstate commerce regulations.
Around 8 a.m. on Sept. 2, a Louisiana State Police (LSP) trooper pulled Cenac over for excessive speeding on Interstate 49 near Lecompte. During the traffic stop, the trooper observed a live spotted fawn inside his vehicle and contacted the LDWF Enforcement Division.
LDWF Senior Agent Lane Causey arrived on the scene and learned that Cenac was trying to transport this live spotted fawn from Texas to his home in Houma.
The agent seized the spotted fawn and turned it over to an LDWF biologist.
Illegally importing a live cervid and violating interstate commerce regulations brings up to a $950 fine and 120 days in jail.
