Fort Polk-Vernon and Peason Ridge WMAs to be closed Nov. 29–Dec. 1

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will close Fort Polk-Vernon and Peason Ridge Wildlife Management Areas (WMA) for the Thanksgiving weekend (Nov. 29-Dec. 1) due to extensive military training by the U.S. Army.

Fort Polk- Vernon WMA is located in central Vernon Parish near Leesville. Peason Ridge WMA is located partly in northern Vernon Parish, southeastern Sabine Parish and southwestern Natchitoches Parish near Simpson.

LDWF would like to remind the public that Clear Creek WMA, located in Vernon Parish, near Leesville, West Bay WMA, located in Allen Parish, near Oakdale, and Sabine WMA, located in Sabine Parish, near Many, as well as the Kisatchie National Forest will be open for deer hunting these three days.
