Agents cite two subjects for turkey hunting violations in Beauregard Parish

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents cited two subjects for alleged turkey hunting violations in Beauregard Parish on April 17.

Agents cited Chad Cole, 48, of Sugartown, for hunting turkeys without a turkey hunting license, failing to tag a harvested turkey, hunting turkeys without turkey tags, taking over the daily limit of turkeys and using another hunter’s turkey tags. Konner Seal, 24, of Deridder, was cited for allowing another hunter to use his turkey tags.

Agents received a complaint about a turkey hunter taking over the daily limit of turkeys near Sugartown. LDWF agents made contact with Cole and Seal, and Cole admitted to taking two turkeys on the same day. Agents learned that Seal allowed Cole to use his two turkey tags for Cole’s harvested turkeys.

Agents also found that Cole did not possess a turkey hunting license or turkey tags. Agents seized the two turkeys.

Taking over the daily limit of turkeys brings a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail. Hunting turkeys without a turkey hunting license, without turkey tags, failing to tag harvested turkeys, using another hunter’s turkey tags and allowing another hunter to use turkey tags carries up to a $350 fine for each offense.

Cole will also be assessed civil restitution totaling $3,079 for the replacement value of the illegally taken turkeys.

Agents involved in the case are Sgt. Devin Bryant and Corporal Michael Darbonne.
