Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited two individuals for alleged duck hunting violations in Cameron Parish on Jan. 21.
Agents cited Brandon Click, 44, of Orange, Texas, and Philip Hatton, 45, of Kountze, Texas, for taking over the limit of pintail ducks and intentional concealment of wildlife.
Agents were on patrol on the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge when they observed two men with five ducks on the bow of their boat. Agents stopped the vessel for a compliance check and found the men in possession of seven pintail ducks of which five were intentionally hidden in the boat by the subjects.
The daily limit for pintails is one pintail per licensed hunter putting the subjects five over the daily bag limit. Agents seized the seven pintails and donated them to a local charity.
Intentional concealment of wildlife and taking over the limit of pintails up to a $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail for each offense. The men may also face civil restitution totaling $133 for the replacement value of the pintails.
Agents participating in the case are Senior Agent Chelsea Moudry and Corporal Michael Treadway.
