LWF Commission chooses DU for license funds

Delta Waterfowl and United Prairie Foundation not selected, LDWF says

The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission on Thursday voted to allocate all funding from 10 percent of LDWF hunting license sales to Ducks Unlimited for the development and preservation of migratory waterfowl breeding grounds for the next three years.

According to a press release, the United Prairie Foundation, Delta Waterfowl and DU all submitted proposals seeking the funding, which will total $320,000 annually for the next three fiscal years.

A motion to divide the funding between DU and Delta Waterfowl failed Thursday, then the commission voted to allocate all the funds to Ducks Unlimited, which has been awarded a major portion of the funding since the program began in 1965.
