I can’t emphasize enough the importance of a ground blind.
They are not practical for early morning run-and-gun turkey hunting, but for later in the day sit-and-wait hunting they can’t be beat.
I have successfully used them on open pastures or fields with decoys to take good gobblers.
Gobblers will often walk the same woods road or path while cruising for hens. Sitting in the blind waiting for one to stroll by can be a little slow but productive.
Throw in a folding chair for comfort. And don’t worry about turkeys being “blind shy.” While a deer will jump out of its hide if it spots a blind that wasn’t there the last time it came by, a turkey pays a blind no attention whatsoever.
