2014 turkey regulations, lottery hunt applications now available

Opening day is March 22

The 2014 wild turkey season opens March 22, and the regulations pamphlet is now available from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

End-of-season dates vary, with Area A going from March 22 – April 20, Area B from March 22 – April 13 and Area C from March 22 – April 6. All areas include similar geographic boundaries from 2013, with the exception of a small portion of Area B in Caddo Parish that is closed.

Applications for 2014 Turkey Season WMA lottery hunts for adult and youth hunters are available on the LDWF website by clicking here. The lottery  hunt application deadline is Friday, Feb. 7.

The statewide youth and physically challenged hunter weekend for private lands will be March 15-16.

Additionally, turkey hunting dates on U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service refuges and U.S. Army Corps of Engineer properties will be available as follows:

Bogue Chitto NWR, March 15-16 (youth), plus March 22 – April 13.

Lake Ophelia NWR, March 15 (youth lottery), plus March 22 – April 6 (hunts end at 12 noon).

Tensas NWR, March 15-16 (youth), plus March 22 – April 6.

Upper Ouachita NWR, March 15 (youth lottery).

Indian Bayou USACOE, March 15-16 (youth/physically challenged), March 22-23 and 29-30; All lottery hunts.

Old River USACOE, March 22 – April 6.
