The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has closed the South Bosco Tract ATV/ UTV Trail on Russell Sage Wildlife Management Area (WMA) due to severe erosion in several locations. The South Bosco Tract will remain open for hunting, however access will be walk-in only.
Recent rainfall and increasing water levels in Bayou Lafourche Canal have eroded the trail, making it impassable. Once conditions allow, the trail will be repaired and reopened.
Russell Sage WMA consists of 38,213 acres in Ouachita Parish and is located about seven miles east of Monroe and 10 miles west of Rayville. You can access the WMA via U.S. Highway 80 and 165, Louisiana Highway 15 and I-20. Go to http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/wma/2777 for more information.
