Restricted access to Rockefeller SWR for nuisance gator harvest

Facility will not open to public until 10 a.m. starting on Sept. 2

The annual nuisance alligator harvest will restrict public access to the Rockefeller State Wildlife Refuge beginning on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

During the harvest, the facility will not open until 10 a.m., and the public will be allowed on the refuge until official sunset each day.

The delayed openings will be in effect for seven days, or until all trappers have utilized their tags for the harvest.

Rockefeller SWR is one of the most biologically diverse wildlife areas in the nation and attracts over 100,000 visitors annually. The refuge provides high quality wetlands habitat for ducks, geese, shorebirds and wading birds.
