Voting begins in Big Buck, Trail Cam contests

Follow these simple instructions to make the perfect blind to up hunting success.

Voting has begun in the Nikon Big Buck and Trail Cam contests in which LouisianaSportsman.com users name the monthly winners.

Four photos are in the each contests’ voting round, which continues until Thursday morning (Nov. 3).

The contests are open to all registered users of LouisianaSportsman.com, with monthly winners earning a Sportsman prize package including a free one-year subscription to Louisiana Sportsman magazine and a $25 gift coupon to the online Sportsman Store.

All entrants in the Nikon Big Buck Contest also will be eligible for a random drawing for a set of Nikon Monarch ATB 10×42 binoculars.

This month’s Nikon Big Buck Contest finalists, chosen by site administrators, include user JB1979.

JB1979 entered a photo of “Robbie S.” with a great 8-point killed on opening day during a marsh hunt.

“I guess it’s better to be lucky than good any day,” JB1979 joked.

Also in the running is new member “Zukster,” who posted a photo of Lucas Chaisson with his first buck – a fine West Bay WMA 8-point killed during a youth hunt.

“He has never been hunting in his life,” Zukster wrote. “With 10 minutes left to hunt, this nice 8-point stepped out on the lane we were hunting. Lucas performed like a champ, dropping the deer in his tracks at 60 yards.”

Girlz Rule” is the third finalist. She posted a image showing her with a 9-point killed Oct. 16.

“I have been hunting nearly 20 years and have never had anything bigger than a 5-point I my sights,” Gilz Rule wrote. “On … (the) second day of opening weekend for gun season, I was blessed to have this incredible buck walk out into the shooting lane to feed on corn.”

Rounding out the month’s options is user “delacerda,” who just joined the Sportsman team.

delacerda entered a photo of a great 8-point – his second largest buck – killed near Natchitoches.

In the Trail Cam Contest, long-time member “big al” leads off with a great photo showing a slugfest between two does.

“They really like the rice bran,” big al wrote about his image titled “Knock Out!!!”

New user “sticknstring74” made the monthly finals with his image titled “2 Hammers,” which show a pair of Magnolia, Miss., bucks.

Another newly registered user, “Big Racks HC,” earned a trip to the monthly finals with an image that shows a nice buck and doe at a corn feeder – with the buck rearing up and the doe looking a little put off.

The final option is a photo of an absolute monster Mississippi buck entered by “LIL LOUISIANA.”

“The monarch has surfaced,” LIL LOUISIANA wrote about the big deer.
