South Louisiana QDMA hosting summer seminar Aug. 4

Free event begins at 6 p.m. at LDWF headquarters

If youre already preoccupied at work thinking of heading back into the deer stand this fall, the South Louisiana Branch of the Quality Deer Management Association is holding its annual Deer and Wildlife Summer Seminar next Thursday, Aug. 4.

The free event will take place at 6 p.m. in the headquarters of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, located at 2000 Quail Drive in Baton Rouge. Registration will begin at 5 p.m.

Among the topics up for discussion will be the LSU AgCenter’s research into feral pig control with Dr. Glen Gentry, as well as information on the population dynamics of white-tailed deer on Tensas National Wildlife Refuge.

In addition, LDWFs Johnathan Bordelon will discuss updates for the 2016-17 hunting season and DMAP, and Dave Moreland will talk about recommended food plot plantings.
