Monson Jr. allegedly failed to comply with tagging requirements for three bucks, LDWF says
Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited a Port Allen man for alleged deer tagging violations in Winn and East Baton Rouge parishes.
According to a news release, Sammy L. Monson Jr., 25, was ticketed for deer tagging violations on three deer.
After receiving an anonymous tip, agents met with Monson on Jan. 26 and allegedly found him in possession of deer meat from a 12-point buck he shot on Jan. 17 in East Baton Rouge Parish that wasn’t properly tagged.
Further investigation revealed that Monson also harvested a spike in East Baton Rouge Parish and an 8-point in Winn Parish in November of 2015 and allegedly failed to comply with tagging requirements for those two deer.
Failing to comply with deer tagging requirements carries a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail for each offense. Monson may also face civil restitution for the 12-point deer $2033.29, the release states.
