LDWF offers $1,000 reward in Rapides Parish deer hunting case

Trail cam captures two suspected poachers red-handed

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is asking the public for help in connection with a deer hunting and trespassing case last month in Rapides Parish.

According to a press release, a landowner alerted agents about a photo on his trail cam taken at 8:37 p.m. on Nov. 22 in the Kolin and Effie area of Rapides Parish.

In the photo, the man standing on the left has a deer draped around his back, and the other man is lying on the ground preparing to drape another deer over his back to leave the area.

Agents suspect the men were trespassing on private land without permission, and may have committed other hunting violations, including hunting during illegal hours and hunting with lights or night vision scopes.

LDWF is offering up to a $1,000 reward for anybody that volunteers information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.

Anyone with tips or leads can call LDWF’s Operation Game Thief’s toll free hotline at 1-800-442-2511, or text Operation Game Thief by texting LADWF and their tip to 847411.

Tipsters can also download the LADWF Tips iPhone and Android apps from iTunes and Google Play stores free of charge.
