Firearms account for 94 percent of 2014-15 deer harvest
It’s probably no surprise to anyone that gun hunters are far more successful than those using stringed weapons.
The 2014-15 Louisiana Deer Report shows that 131,300 of the 139,900 deer (94 percent) killed last season were taken by some form of firearm.
Of that number, 115,500 deer were harvested with modern guns. That number represents 83 percent of the overall season kills.
Primitive weapons accounted for 15,800 deer, or 11 percent of the total.
Bows were third on the list, with 5,300 deer killed. That translates to 4 percent of the total season harvest.
The other 2 percent — 3,300 deer — were taken with crossbows
