Denham Springs man accused of stealing trail cams to stop hunting

A Denham Springs man has been arrested for stealing a Livingston Parish landowner’s trail cameras, allegedly in an attemp to stop hunting, WAFB reported on Friday.

Dustin Archibald, 21, surrendered to Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputies Thursday. Archibald was booked into the Livingston Parish Detention Center on one count of criminal trespassing and one count of theft, and bond was set at $10,500, WAFB said.

The news agency reported that investigators allege that Archibald was photographed about “taking the bait” on a decoy camera, being photographed by another camera removing the dummy camera.

Archibald allegedly told sheriff’s officials he was but taking the camera so the property owner would not hunt the deer in the area, the television station reported.

Deputies said Archibald was captured on camera after four other trail cameras were stolen in November, WAFB said. The landowner set up a decoy and place another camera to snap pictures of any thieves, calling the sheriff’s office after the alleged photos of Archibald were taken.
