2015 Youth Hunter of the Year registration open now

Deadline for hunters 15 and under to enter is June 30, 2016

If you’re a Louisiana hunter 15 or under who enjoys being in the outdoors and can write a story about your experience, you just might be selected as the 2015 Youth Hunter of the Year.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association have teamed up again for the contest, and are encouraging young hunters who participate in any hunting activity during the 2015-16 hunting season to participate.

The program is about enjoying a hunting experience — with or without success — to keep the hunting tradition alive in Louisiana.

All applications require a photograph from the hunt, as well as a short story. Two winners — a boy and girl — will be recognized at the LOWA conference next summer, and each will receive a plaque and a gift certificate from Bowie Outfitters in Baton Rouge.

All participants are eligible to win an additional gift certificate from Bowie Outfitters.
