Boat struck a piling in Bayou Lafourche, LDWF says
A 29-year-old Golden Meadow man died early Wednesday from injuries sustained in a boating crash in Lafourche Parish, authorities said
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries said Richard Griffin Jr. was traveling north in Bayou Lafourche when his 16-foot vessel struck a piling about 5:15 a.m.
Griffin, who was alone in the boat, was taken to Lady of the Sea Hospital in Galiano and then to University Hospital in New Orleans, where he was pronounced dead.
