Union Parish man arrested for fifth DWI on Russell Sage

Downsville man also cited for WMA violations, LDWF says.

A Union Parish man was arrested and booked Tuesday (Sept. 6) with fifth-offense driving while intoxicated after being stopped on Russell Sage Wildlife Management Area, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries reported.

Jerry R. McAdams, 51, of Downsville also was cited for driving without a valid license and violating WMA rules and regulations by LDWF agents.

The agency said agents stopped McAdams to check for a self-clearing permit, and they noticed that McAdams appeared to be intoxicated.

Agents then discovered that McAdams did not possess a current driver’s license or the required check-in to use the WMA, according to the LDWF news release.

They also found out the man was on probation for his fourth DWI offense, the LDWF said.

Agents arrested and transported McAdams to the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center where he submitted a breath sample, the LDWF said.

The results allegedly showed McAdams had a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit of .08, the LDWF said.

A fourth DWI offense or any subsequent conviction is a felony punishable by imprisonment between 10 and 30 years and up to a $5,000 fine. Failing to abide by WMA rules and regulations brings a fine up to $350, or up to 60 days in jail, or both plus court cost. Operating a vehicle without a valid driver’s license is a fine up to $175, and up to 30 days in jail, or both plus court cost.
