Crossing at Bayou Wauksha on Rice Field Road closed until July 2014
The Rice Field Road bridge over Bayou Wauksha on Thistlethwaite Wildlife Management Area is being replaced by the Williams Gas Company and won’t be completed until July of 2014, according to a press release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
The bridge will be closed to all pedestrians and vehicles, including ATVs normally allowed for those users with physically-challenged permits, the release states.
In addition to the bridge closure, the Williams Gas emergency access road from the end of Rice Field Road to East Road will be closed to all hunting during bridge construction.
Only Williams Gas personnel will use the road to access gas monitoring facilities at the end of Rice Field Road, according to the release.
Thistlethwaite WMA is located in north central St. Landry Parish, and is accessible via Interstate 49 from the Lebeau exit.
