New Orleans Boat Show set for March 7-9

Annual event to be held in Superdome

The entire floor of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be transformed into a giant boat showroom during the New Orleans Boat Show slated for March 7-9.

“The show is packed,” said Lionel Dowling, boat show director. “Absolutely every inch of floor space is sold.”

Presented by Mercury Marine and Tidewater Boats, the 2014 show will include most of the boat dealers from southeast Louisiana, as well as reps for other gear like boat lifts, electronics, sunglasses, kayaks, tackle and more.

“We’re going to have a great variety of boats, motors, personal watercraft and a little bit of everything,” Dowling said. “And we have booths around the perimeter of the show for the ladies, plus we’ll have the Monster Spider Jumps for the kids.

“So you can bring the whole family.”

Admission is $8 for adults, and children 12 and under get in free, he said.

And weather won’t be an issue, because Dowling said there is convenient covered parking adjacent to the Superdome.

On opening day, March 7, the show opens at 3 p.m. and closes at 10 p.m. On Saturday, March 8, the show is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday, March 9, show hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“It’s a three-day show because we’re the weekend after Mardi Gras. We’re looking forward to people coming out and enjoying themselves, and getting a great deal on a boat,” Dowling said. “We’ll have financing available and insurance available, so you can make the complete deal right there at the boat show.”

The show will feature all of newest 2014 models available, as well as great closeout offers on the 2013s, with special boat show-only prices, he said.
