Free admission on opening day for all members of the armed forces, veterans and first responders
For the first time, the Louisiana Sportsman Show presented by Shell will be held in LaPlace from March 28-30 and will feature indoor and outdoor exhibits from some of the biggest vendors in the state, free parking, a large kids’ activity zone and a food court featuring some of the top restaurants from the River Parishes region.
And as a way to thank our heroes, all members of the armed forces, veterans and first responders will receive free admission to the first day of the show on Friday, March 28.
“Louisiana Sportsman was founded in the River Parishes, and we are excited to bring our show to the area,” Lisa Cuccia, president of Louisiana Sportsman, said. “We are also thrilled to be able to honor the brave men and women who put their lives on the line so that we may enjoy our many freedoms.”
Additionally, the Louisiana Sportsman Show has partnered with the United Cajun Navy to offer a free fishing tournament for kids. The show will also include retriever competitions.
The show will take place at the St. John the Baptist Community Center and Thomas F. Daley Memorial Park on Highway 51, which is the site of the annual Andouille Festival. Show times are Friday, Noon – 7 p.m., Saturday, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
“The show will have a similar layout to previous years with plenty of outdoor and indoor space and lots of room for free parking,” Cuccia said.
Fun for the whole family
A large kids’ zone will feature several inflatables, and on Saturday and Sunday the Wetland Watchers will allow attendees to get up close and personal with baby alligators, snakes and other reptiles.
“The Wetland Watchers always draw a big crowd and provide a fun and educational experience for our attendees that fits with our mission of conservation,” Cuccia said.
This year, the Louisiana Sportsman Show is able to provide far more tasty dining offerings than in the past. For the seafood lovers, Boot T’s will be serving up delicious eats, while barbecue fans will get to experience Big Papi’s Smokehouse, owned by Gerald Vinnett Jr. who finished as a finalist on Netflix’s Barbecue Showdown.
MoFries, who serves up a creative twist on loaded fries with a variety of mouthwatering toppings, and Fil-Asian Kitchen, who specializes in Cajun inspired dishes and Asian food, will also be set up in the food court.
