The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, in cooperation with the Grand Isle Port Commission, the Town of Grand Isle and the US Coast Guard, is assisting in the clean-up efforts following the fire that destroyed a major portion of the Caminada Pass Bridge in Grand Isle.
“In recent months, LDWF has been in discussion with the Department of Transportation and Development to improve the Caminada Pass Bridge as a fishing access point,” said LDWF Secretary Robert Barham. “Since recent events have escalated the need for work to be done on the bridge, we are now committed more than ever to establishing safe fishing access and opportunities in Grand Isle.”
The bridge fire that blazed more than six hours destroyed a majority of the structure. LDWF tasked personnel, boats and other supplies to assist in the removal of fire-related debris.
