2013 Louisiana High School Fishing Championship to be held March 10

The Bass Federation to host the championship on Caddo Lake

The 2013 Student Angler Federation Louisiana High School Fishing State Championship will be held on Caddo Lake on March 10, the Bass Federation announced.

“The Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, along with the City of Shreveport, the City of Bossier City, the Caddo Parish Commission and the Bossier Parish Police Jury are excited to have partnered with The Bass Federation on the previous two state high school fishing state championships …,” said Kelly Wells, vice president of the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission. “We’re excited to be back once again on the world-famous Caddo Lake this year and partner with Earl Williamson Park and the Caddo Parish Commission and their staff.

“The Bass Federation has done a tremendous job growing bass fishing into a high school sport, as evidenced by the growing number of participants since the inaugural event. Louisiana and this region are a hotbed for anglers, and we hope to have some of our fishermen rise to the next level in the near future.”

Students in grades 9th through 12th will be allowed to register online. Each participant must register with an adult who will provide a boat from which the student anglers will fish.

Teams can register online at Highschoolfishing.org(insert link). There is a $25 fee for registration, with a $25 late fee for those registering at the March 9 check-in, The Bass Federation said.

Teams must check in after 6:30pm on March 9 at Rodeway Inn & Suites in Bossier City La. Participants should check in before the rules briefing at 8 p.m., The Bass Federation said.

Participants will launch out of Earl G Williamson Park.
State champions will advance to the FLW/TBF High School Fishing Conference Championship, from which conference winners advance to the FLW/TBF High School Fishing National Championship held in conjunction with the FLW College Fishing National Championship in the spring of 2014.
