Alton “Pete” Landry studied chemistry at Nicholls State University, during which time he completed a four-year stint in the National Guard. In 1966, the Assumption Parish native earned a cum laude bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1966 before spending 32 years working in chemical and oil-refining plants in Southeast Louisiana.

Landry has been married to Rosemary Acosta Landry for 45 years, and has four children and seven grandchildren. When he’s not researching the ethanol issue, Landry spends time fishing, gardening and traveling.
