Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries enforcement agents cited three subjects for alleged red snapper violations on July 10 in Plaquemines Parish.
Agents cited Aragon Moreno, Mauricio Perez-Cruz and Arnold Miranda, all from Kenner, for taking or possessing over the limit of red snapper, taking or possessing undersized red snapper and failing to have recreational offshore landing permits.
Agents were on patrol in the Empire Channel when they made contact with the subjects in their vessel to perform a boating safety inspection and creel check.
They found the men in possession of 31 red snapper putting the men 25 over their daily possession limit. Also, 30 of the red snapper were under the minimum 16-inch size limit. The men also failed to obtain the department’s free recreational offshore landing permit.
Taking or possessing over the limit of red snapper and undersized red snapper carries a $100 up to $350 for each offense plus 60 days in jail for each offense. Failing to have a recreational offshore landing permit carries up to a $50 fine and 15 days in jail.
The three men also face civil restitution for the replacement value of the illegally taken fish totaling $860.70.
