Texas man dies after charter boat strikes Lake Barre wellhead

Accident happened around 11 p.m. Friday, TPSO says

A 36-year-old Texas man died Friday night after the boat he was riding in struck a wellhead in Lake Barre east of Cocodrie, according to a press release from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Jacob E. Fulmer II, of Ector, Texas, was ejected and died in the accident, which occurred around 11 p.m.. Two other men on the boat were also ejected, but received only minor injuries.

According to the release, six men and the captain were on the 25-foot center console boat on a charter fishing trip when the accident occurred.

A detective with the sheriff’s office Monday declined to reveal the name of the captain involved. The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating the incident.
