Late spring is a great time to venture out to the Louisiana barrier islands in search of big speckled trout. There are many barrier islands, all of which are capable of delivering excellent fishing, but none are as legendary as the Chandeleur Islands chain. Lying 40 miles south of the Mississippi coast, this Louisiana island chain is known for wade fishing and for big trout. The Chandeleur Islands are pristine and uninhabited, but also remote. There are risks associated with fishing on these remote islands and those venturing out to the islands need to know the hazards and be prepared.
