Meet the Trout Masters

Those attending the Louisiana Sportsmen’s Show and Festival on March 14 will get a unique opportunity to meet and greet the 14 speckled-trout anglers featured in Jerald Horst’s popular book, “Trout Masters: How Louisiana’s Best Anglers Catch the Lunkers.”

David “T-Coon” Billeaud, Will Drost, Harry Hildebrand, John “Charlie” Lieux, Jeff and Mary Poe, Edison “Ed” Sexton, Kirk, Guy and Bobby Stansel, Terry St. Cyr, Allen “Chink” Sumas Jr., Ulysse “Bootsie” Toups Jr. and Dudley Vandenborre Jr. are all scheduled to appear.

The event will be emceed by outdoor personality Don Dubuc, and will give audience members the chance to have their questions answered and learn the tricks of the trade from these trout-fishing legends.

Don Cooper, one of the show organizers, says this is a once-in-a-lifetime event.

“This is the first time all 14 of them will be together at any event,” he said. “It’s an opportunity to learn from the top trophy-trout fishermen in Louisiana.

“These aren’t just people who catch trout. They were selected for the book because they catch trophy-sized trout.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring their personal copies of the book for the Trout Masters and author Jerald Horst to autograph.

Books will also be on sale at the event.
