Added to the list of closed waters are “state territorial seas seaward of the inside-outside shrimp line from the eastern shore of Barataria Pass at 89 degrees 56 minutes 44 seconds west longitude westward to the western shore of Caminada Pass at 90 degrees 02 minutes 46.597 seconds west longitude.”
This latest closure, which came less than three hours after the beaches of Fourchon and Elmer’s Island were closed, due to “confirmed reports of oil,” LDWF officials said in the news release.
All inside waters of Barataria Bay, including the back beach of Grand Isle, remains open – as does all offshore waters and beaches between the eastern shore of Barataria Pass and Chaland Pass to the east.
