How to get to Cypress Bayou Reservoir

Constructed in the 1950s for recreational purposes, Cypress Bayou Reservoir is a 3,875-acre lake north of Bossier City near Benton.

From the Interstate 220 bypass around Shreveport-Bossier City, take Airline Highway north for 5 miles. Turn right on Linton when you see a green sign for the Cypress Bayou Park.

Go 2 miles and turn right at the gas station onto Parks Road, and then proceed 1.5 miles to the boat ramp on your left.

Another launch can be found at the park.

There is a $3 drop box to pay for launching, but be sure to bring a pen to fill out the ticket. The launch has a two lane ramp, dock, portable toilets and plenty of parking.

In addition to paying the launch fee, fishermen on Cypress Bayou must also have a permit. Good for a calendar year, it costs $20 and can be purchased at the Cypress Lake Park, located at 135 Cypress Park Drive in Benton.
