Construction underway on Bayou Amy boat launch in Henderson

Project expected to be completed in March, 2014

Construction has begun on a boat launch on Bayou Amy directly across from the Atchafalaya Basin western guide levee in Henderson, according to a press release.

The Louisiana Department of Natural Resources’ Atchafalaya Basin Program is contributing $229,000 to the $561,000 project, according to the DNR release.

The facility, designed by Comeaux Engineering and Consulting and built by Matt Durand Construction, will include a boat launch, parking area and floating dock.

St. Martin Parish President Guy Cormier said in the release additional funding for the project will come from the St. Martin Parish Coastal Impact Assistance Program, and future improvements on-site will include an educational pavilion, self-guided nature walk and new restroom facility.

Phyllis Darensbourg with DNR said the project was expected to be completed by February or March of 2014.
