Fish kill reported in booms at MRGO mouth

As many as 15,000 dead fish have been found at the mouth of the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet, according to news reports.

The kill was found Sunday (Aub. 22) afternoon within boom deployed as part of the Deepwater Horizon oil-spill response, St.Bernard President Craig Taffaro told the Associated Press.

Reportedly, species in the kill included crabs, sting rays, eel, drum, speckled trout and red fish.

The cause of the kill had not been determined yet, but
Lousisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries biologists were collecting water samples as part of its investigation.
