Many angler wins $5,000 at Big Bass Splash

Mong’s fish tipped the scales at exactly 3.00 pounds to claim the prize

Tammy Mong has caught lots of big bass at Toledo Bend — including an 11.24-pound monster — but a 3-pounder had her jumping for joy Friday during the first day of competition at the Sealy Outdoor Big Bass Splash.

That would be a 3-pounder that weighed exactly 3.00 pounds — and it was worth a cool $5,000 dollars for the Many angler, who is married to Derek Mong, a veteran of the Lunker Bass Program who’s taken six double digit bass at the Bend since 2011.

In the video, the weight starts out around 3.26 pounds, then quickly drops to 3.01, before finally settling at exaclty 3.00 pounds even — which sent Mong airborne.

“Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!” she exclaimed, before giving the weighmaster a big hug.

At $1,666.66 per pound, that’s not a bad way to start a Friday morning.

Congrats, Tammy.
