Lake Borgne is an awesome fishing destination that gives up generous numbers of speckled trout and redfish, so when I launched from Rigolets Marina it was the popular rigs that I had in mind to fish.
It took a little bit to get a bite going, but I was able to put a good number of fish in the boat before leaving to find them elsewhere.
And I DID find them elsewhere, just not as plentiful and farther away (not in Lake Borgne).
But this doesn’t mean I wouldn’t have limited out if I had remained in Lake Borgne.
I just have a knack for wanting to take a ride and check out other stuff and, honestly, that’s how you stay on fish and remain successful as an inshore angler: by constantly covering water to know what’s out there.
