Many anglers spend hours trying to find just the right bait to “match the hatch.” In basic terms, the concept means fishing a lure that most closely approximates what the fish are feeding on that day.
In fairness, absolutely nothing in the marshes of South Louisiana looks anything like a FishLab Flutter Nymph, but the bait just works, particularly this time of year when every game fish is looking for smaller baits that have some action but not as much as a circus monkey juggling balls while spinning plates.
This week, I rigged the bait on a 1/4-ounce Deathgrip Jighead, and found a school of redfish that just wouldn’t leave it alone.
