“When hunting season started I told my friends and family that this year is the the year for another wall mount. Well, my blessings came true New Year’s morning 6:50 a.m. I watched him swim across the GA directly to me. It was like a movie and It took a while for me to see exactly how big he was. I watched him shake the water off of him then I noticed exactly how heavy horned he was. I had an opportunity to shoot him after he shook off, but I wasn’t comfortable with the shot. With one last opportunity I knew exactly where he was gonna walk. I waited until he cleared some trees and he walked directly into the scope, a 30 yard shot. I pulled the trigger and the “Big Swamp Donkey” went down. It was absolutely a great feeling as he never moved again. I’ve been hunting the Atchafalaya Basin for 8 to 10 years now and have seen many deer. I finally got the shot of a lifetime. I shared the videos and pictures with a lot of people that hunt in the Basin and I was told this deer just does not come that easy. They all said that they wish they were in my shoes.”
