Ty Bowser, 12, of Bluff Creek, La., killed his first turkey on opening morning of turkey season, March 29, 2024. The gobbler had a 10.5-inch beard and only one 1.25-inch spur.
“He and his Paw-Paw, Myron Tyler, had always planned to make those feathers fly together, but having had a heart attack and quintuple bypass surgery just three weeks prior to opening day, his uncle, Wade Tyler, joined them on the hunt. What a blessing it was. Not only did Ty get his first long beard, but they get to spend another season with Paw-Paw in the turkey woods thanks to the good Lord above.
