Layne Fabre, 8, got his first buck in Pointe Coupee Parish on Jan. 5, 2026. He had been hunting a buck hard all season. One day he came home and said, “Mom, I’m just going to kill my doe today,” and boy, did he ever. He harvested a 137-pound doe on Dec. 1, 2025. After that, every chance he got he went back out hunting for his buck. He fought mosquitoes, ladybugs, and crazy Louisiana weather! All his hard work finally paid off—he harvested a 183-pound, 8-point buck out of Pointe Coupee Parish.
