Dad gets 4th deer of the season

On Jan. 12, 2021, I was on the phone with my mom and my dad called her to get me and my sister to go help my dad drag his 4th deer of the season, which was a 9-point he had just shot on his lease in Kramer, La.

The ridge my dad was hunting is a mile long, so that make a very long drag to get the deer to the truck through the wilderness of the swamp.

My husband was hunting on a different ridge of the lease as well and while he was heading to my dad to help him drag and collect the gun, clothes and gear, my sister and I were on our way to relieve them from the long drag ahead.

As we got to the location they were at, I can tell they needed a break. So my sister and I tagged in and started dragging mostly the rest of the mile long drag. Believe it or not, that’s what I love the most about hunting the swamps of Louisiana, you never know what’s in store from the start.

If you shoot, you’re going swimming for that deer and then the drag over and around all the Cypress knees, briers, slews and whatever else gets in your way.

It makes the best hunting memories and stories. I’ve been hunting with my dad, Capt. T-Man, all my life and I love hunting because of him.
Congratulations on tagging out this year dad.
