“On Oct. 25, 2025 the youth hunt began. This would be the seventh year that 13-year-old Carson Rodrigue would go on his youth hunt. At 6:05 a.m., Carson and his dad headed to the stand to begin what would be “the best day ever” for Carson. A little after 6:50 a.m., a 3-point and a spike walked out and started feeding. Anxious and nervous, Carson was ready. He watched the two deer for an hour getting a little frustrated that he wasn’t going to shoot. At 9 a.m. Carson and his dad headed back to the camp to get breakfast and “talk about it” with his PawPaw and uncles. The three hunters who had been doing this their whole lives gave him words of wisdom. ‘If you don’t let them grow you will never have horns.’ At 3 p.m. Carson took his mama and cousin Jolie to the stand to see what would happen. At 5:25 p.m. a shot rang out with a FaceTime call from mama saying he got it, it’s a rack, it’s a big one! After that call the rest is history. He downed a 190-pound, 10-point buck with and 18 1/2-inch spread that ‘made this the best day ever’ per Carson.”
