Beau Barnhart, 8, of Marksville shot this 8-point, his biggest buck to date, on private property in Area 1 in Catahoula Parish. He shot it at about 30 yards from his box stand with a 243 caliber rifle at 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 7 while it was chasing two does. The buck fell about 100 yards later after tracking the blood trail.
