Alden Kizer McGee of Lafayette was hunting on family land in Concordia Parish when she downed this 249-pound 8-point buck on Nov. 17. It scored 138 1/4.
“On Nov. 17 on family land in Concordia Parish I was able to harvest a 249-pound 20-inch wide 8-point. Hunting a tree my dad and I found after a few hours of scouting, we knew bucks had been passing through. Not running cameras and going off of fresh scrapes, it was time to see what the morning hunt had in store. After a nice 8-point was just out of range, I thought I might have missed my chance. Moments later, in my API climber using my Hoyt Carbon Spider, Scott archery little goose release, Easton arrow and Steel Force broad head, at 25 yards quartering away, I made a good shot for a quick recovery.”
