7 1/2 year old’s first deer is a monster!

On Saturday, December 12, 2020, Dodds Hymel (7 1/2 y.o.) and his father Eric Hymel from Covington, Louisiana were hunting at their lease in Brookhaven, Mississippi.

At 5:00 PM while watching a small buck chasing does in their food plot, a monster buck made an appearance. The big buck came within 50 yards and turned broadside, giving Dodds the perfect shot.

Dodds steadied his rifle on the window frame of their box stand and patiently waited for his shot. He executed a great shot which caused the Big Buck to collapse once in the food plot before getting up and then falling for the last time on the edge of the food plot.

This was Dodds first deer ever harvested and will be hard to beat!
Dodds rifle is a Daniel Defense .300 blackout with a Leupold Rifleman 3-9×50 scope.

The 9 point buck weighed in at 230 pounds and had an inside spread of 17 1/4”.
