“We caught a lot of black drum throwing chunks of blue crab into the surf at Elmer’s Island – this fish took our bait around noon. We thought it was a red at first when it was in the surf, then second guessed ourselves because it had the shape of a black drum. When we got a good look at it out of the water we couldn’t figure out what it was – the fish had the shape of a black drum but also had red scales with a spot above the tail. The drum was released back to swim another day.”
