Tucker Bell, 7, is proving that there is something to the old adage “like father, like son”. Tucker recently landed his personal best 20 1/2-inch speckled trout on Nov. 21 fishing out of Shell Beach. He’s going to be giving his dad, Chris, a run for his money. Chris, known as “Fish Man Chris”, is a regular on social media and it looks like he’s going to have to make more room for family photos. “He asked me to go fishing the previous day while we were at the cemetery visiting my dad’s grave for his birthday/day he died,” said Chris Bell. “I also bought him a new pole that same day. We started fishing cuts off the MRGO, avoiding the crowds of boats. After several attempts he had no problem casting his line, popping his cork and setting the hook 100% independently. This was his 4th or 5th trout he caught for the day. His cork went under, he pulled his rod tip straight up while reeling and says ‘ohhh man, got another one dad!’ The fish swam towards the boat so it never broke the surface. I was watching him then all of sudden he gets it to the boat and flips it in like a pro. My heart like to stop. A solid 20″+ trout and a new personal best for himself. Proud dad moment for sure.”
